Disclaimer

By Submitting a Validation Request Form, you understand and agree to the following:

  1. I acknowledge that I will NOT be permitted to re-enter the U.S. if I do not have the paper DS-2019 form endorsed for international travel by IGE.
  2. I will obtain approval for my travel from my host company before submitting this form.
  3. I understand that it is my responsibility to send and receive back my DS-2019 form in time prior to my international travel. IGE is NOT responsible for keeping track of returning your DS-2019 document on time. You may NOT leave the U.S. without receiving your DS-2019 form with travel validation authorization from IGE. We recommend you send us your documents at least 1 week in advance for IGE to process your travel validation request.
  4. You are solely responsible to keep yourself updated of any travel rules and guidelines for your travel until the day of your return to the U.S. and to frequently check the warning level of your destination country. Each country has its own requirements for international travelers to enter the country. It is your responsibility to check and confirm all necessary documents and procedures before planning your travel. IGE is NOT responsible for checking all the requirements and required documents for your international travel. IGE will NOT take any responsibility of any issues occurring during your international travel.
  5. I understand the travel validation is valid for one year from the date of issuance. If I leave the U.S. multiple times during the year, I will send IGE another travel validation request to get approval before every time I travel outside of the U.S.
  6. I understand that once I depart the U.S. after my program end date, I CANNOT reenter under my J-1 visa even with a travel validation during my grace period.
  7. I understand that IGE does NOT allow participants to travel internationally for more than 30 days at a time.
  8. Although a travel validation is intended to ensure reentry into the U.S., participants should be advised that readmission is at discretion of Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
  9. Be sure to check your I-94 record upon return to the U.S. to ensure the proper visa was issued. The Class of Admission should be J1. If any corrections are needed, please contact IGE.

Travel Validation Request Form

If you intend to travel abroad during your program, you must first obtain travel authorization from IGE. Please read the disclaimer above before submitting this form.

After IGE approves your international travel:

1. IGE will send you a new DS-2019 form with Travel Validation

2. Please print your new DS-2019 form on white paper and bring the document with you to your travel (you will need this form when you reenter the U.S.)

*It is important that your company knows you will be going outside of the U.S. and have acknowledged all the risks of international travel.

*Please be informed of any travel rules/guidelines until you return to the U.S. and check back frequently
