Yes, you will have to pay a program fee to cover administrative costs, health insurance, and SEVIS that are required by the regulations. You will also be responsible for paying a visa application fee to your local U.S. embassy/Consulate, and you should have sufficient funds to cover your travel expenses and initial cost of living when you arrive to the U.S.
The DS-2019 is the official document issued by your sponsor that allows you to apply for a J-1 visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate.
No, you're not allowed to have a second job while participating in the program. You will be only allowed to have an internship or training at a host company listed in your training plan(DS-7002).
Application timeframe depends on how fast you and your host company submit the required documents and complete the application process. Typically, it takes about 4-6 weeks to apply for a visa.
You must be able to understand and communicate in English to perform successfully in the internship or training program. You need to pass an IGE English Oral test by IGE associate in order to participate in our programs.
Yes, you can. You will need to request a “Travel Validation” on your DS-2019 form. Please contact IGE at least 3 weeks prior to your intended travel for further assistance.
Yes, the regulations require each participant to have insurance coverage for the entire duration of the program.
